Life can be busy and demanding, and as a result, oftentimes our mental health is the last thing on our minds. However, doing so can sometimes make us less able to engage with the things that matter to us most, leaving us feeling disconnected from our friends, family, work, or values! If you’re here, that means that you are hoping to find someone who can help you navigate the struggles that you are having and regain balance. I would be honored to work with you to help you take steps toward being the best version of yourself!

My Story

My name is Dr. Michelle Stone, and I am a Licensed Psychologist

who works with adults. Like many others, I wanted to become a

therapist because I am passionate about helping others. My own

positive experiences in therapy as an adolescent prompted me to

pursue this career so I could provide the same comfort and relief

to others that I had received myself. As a result, I have been involved

and engaged with learning about psychology for more than half of my life.

I am dedicated to collaborating with my clients in a safe environment

that allows them room to grow. Growth and change can be challenging,

and even a little scary or uncomfortable at times, and I want to be there

to provide the support that people need to face these challenges with

confidence. It is of paramount importance to me that the people I work

with feel heard, respected, and seen.

My Therapeutic Approach

In my practice I use an integrative approach that I tailor to the needs of
each individual client, pulling wisdom and techniques from psychodynamic

theory, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, dialectical behavioral

therapy (DBT), and culturally-affirming approaches. I am curious about and

invested in every person who walks into my office, and I hope to help my clients

foster that same curiosity in themselves! I believe that we are all the experts in

our own lives, but that there may be times that we encounter obstacles or blind

spots that prevent us from moving forward in a way that is effective and/or congruent

with our values. I’m here to help you learn about yourself more deeply and discover

any ineffective patterns that might be holding you back, creating room for growth

and change. My approach tends to blend exploration of the past to determine how

problems may have begun, and then helping you create new, individualized solutions

and coping strategies so that you can move forward on the next steps in your journey.

There is nothing more important to me than establishing a strong therapeutic relationship,

so I welcome feedback and strive to create a space that is collaborative, warm, and safe.

In addition to therapy, I am also passionate about psychological assessment to help people learn more about themselves. Click here for more information on Assessments.

Education and Training

I received my Masters degree and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Indianapolis. I completed my doctoral internship at Southern Utah University, and completed my postdoctoral residency at Sam Houston State University. I also hold a Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

As a graduate student I worked with clients in multiple settings, including college counseling, community mental health, and private practice, settling into college counseling for a few years after graduation. The breadth of these experiences allowed me the opportunity to meet clients from all different backgrounds who were struggling with a wide range of problems, including anxiety, depression, trauma, adjustment disorders, ADHD, and relational issues. I have a lot of experience working with and supporting members of the LGBTQIA+ community and am affirming of all sexual and gender identities.
